Seniors, Becky Kudayah & Jessica Steinhoff, made Aubrey Chaparral history this past weekend, being the first Lady Chaps to compete in the THSWPA State Powerlifting Meet in Waco on Friday, March 17.
Both girls started the day strong. Becky tied her personal best in squat at 265 pounds, while Jessica set a new personal best at 320 pounds.
In the second event, Jessica benched 175 pounds, and Becky pressed 135 pounds.
In the final event, deadlift, Becky Kudayah fought through adversity, experiencing two failed lifts on technicalities to pull 280 pounds, matching her previous personal best.
Jessica Steinhoff pulled 320 pounds in deadlift to end the day. Jessica matched her previous personal best total of 815 lbs.
Becky set a new personal record with a total of 690 lbs.
Jessica Steinhoff finished 12th out of the top 18 lifters in the state in the 148 weight class.
Becky Kudayah finished 13th in the 132 weight class.
We couldn’t be more proud of these girls’ accomplishments. These girls worked very purposefully and hard all season to reach this goal. The maturity they displayed both with their work ethic and in the competition was key to their success.
